Start here: finding and checking a travel therapy contract

Travel Therapist Jobs is a job board for travel PTs, OTs, SLPs and assistants, and the place to start is the jobs page, then the four pages below that help you check an offer before you sign. The listings, counts and pay figures come from the job feed of the agency that publishes the site, pinned for October 2026, while the guides and blog posts are written.

Who is this site for?

The board is for physical therapists, occupational therapists, speech-language pathologists, PTAs and COTAs looking for a travel contract, whether it is your first one or one of many.

It is built for two jobs: finding open contracts by discipline, state and setting, and checking an offer’s terms before you sign. Every listing shows its weekly pay, and the filters narrow the list by discipline, state and setting. The blog and guides cover the questions around a contract, such as a tax home, housing stipends, extensions and licensing in a new state.

Where should you start?

If you are a new grad, read the new grad guide next: it quotes what the licensing boards say about working before your first license is issued.

What on this site comes from data, and what is written?

The listings and the numbers around them come from data. The site reads the job feed of the agency that publishes it, which records each opening’s discipline, state, city, setting, weekly pay and start date. The counts, medians and ranges on the jobs, state, specialty and setting pages are worked out from a pinned copy of that feed, the same one behind the Travel Therapy Pay Index for October 2026, so the pages agree with one another. The listing cards link to the live board, where each opening is listed in full.

The pay shown is the advertised weekly gross, before tax. The feed does not record contract length, so no page gives a length statistic; confirm the start and end dates in writing.

Some state pages and guides also quote official bodies, such as the PT Compact Commission, the OT Compact Commission and state licensing boards, with each source linked. The blog posts are written explanations, and where one turns on a tax rule it links the IRS.

How do you reach a recruiter?

At the foot of the home page and the jobs pages, Ready for your next adventure? leads to the request form, which asks what you are looking for: discipline, location, setting and start date. In its own words: “Tick the text box and a recruiter texts you right away. A recruiter emails you about your request.” If you would rather wait for the right contract, the Get job alerts link sends an alert when a new contract opens in your discipline and state.

ProTherapy Staffing, which publishes this site, is owned and run by licensed physical therapists.

If you would like a person to look over a listing or an offer with you, ask a ProTherapy recruiter: Find my next contract.

How do you check an offer before you sign?

Ask for the package in writing, split into the taxable hourly wage and each stipend, because what you keep depends on that split and on your taxes, not on the weekly gross. Then put the terms through the contract checker and confirm the start and end dates, the hours and the cancellation terms in writing. If an offer leaves out a line you expect, such as the hours or the cancellation notice, ask for it before you accept.

If the job is in a state where you are not licensed yet, open that state’s page and check the compact for your discipline before you accept a start date. A privilege is only available where both your home state, the state of your primary residence, and the job’s state are issuing them.

Frequently asked questions

Are the jobs on this site real openings?

Yes. Each listing comes from the job feed of the agency that publishes the site, and the card links to that agency’s job board, where the opening is listed in full. Openings close as they are filled, so a listing can leave the board between visits.

Is the pay on a listing what I take home?

No. It is the advertised weekly gross, before tax. What you keep depends on your taxes and on how the package splits between taxable wages and stipends, so ask for that split in writing.

Can I ask about a job in a state where I am not licensed yet?

Yes, but you need that state’s license or, where your discipline’s compact applies, a compact privilege before you start. The state pages and the compact commissions say which route is open.
